Bella
Berserk - Queen of Visual Comedy
The changing face and career of miss Bella Berserk.
In 1998 drag group Charlene's
Angels was formed, my friend Nathan (Cherry Tart, The
blonde Bomb site) and I decided to put together a drag
trio, we did a story for the Dagenham post appealing for
a third person to join our team, after endless auditions
with absolute time wasters, we found Alfie Collison who
contacted us out of the blue after seeing our story in
the post that same week.
Alfie was a childhood friend of mine but I hadn't seen
him for years,we practically grew up together, he had
a reputation for being unreliable as a mate when we were
kids, he was a fat scruffy smelly bastard , a thief and
liar but I hadn't seen him for ages and people do often
change as they get older, I was reluctant to take on a
professional relationship with him because of my past
experiences with Alfie as a child.
Nathan and I desperately needed
to find someone quickly so that we could get on with rehearsals,
we decided to give Alfie ( Pussy go lightly) a chance.
Well , I was right about one thing, people sometimes do
change .....they get worse..... Alfie turned out to be
unreliable and another waste of time.
History
1998 - 2000
After pussy went not so lightly Nathan (Cherry Tart) and
I decided that a drag trio was turning out to be more
trouble than it was worth,we stayed as a duo and renamed
ourselves "SLUTS WITH NUTS" This title certainly got us
noticed and at last we were gigging ,doing numerous hen
nights and entertaining crowds at working mens clubs.
We had a lot of fun but I wanted to push the show further,
increase it's level of popularity and take the act to
another level, Nathan on the other hand was having second
thoughts about being a drag queen and ended up joining
a glam rock band called Bubblegum Superstar.
2000
This was the turning point for me, things couldn't get
much worse, I'd managed to live thought the Drag group
from hell, cutting away the dead wood and starting again
although at this point I was gigging solo and gaining
more confidence without anyone else on stage with me,
the naff brown wigs had to go.
2001
"Blondes have more fun"
Decided
to go blonde for a while, Bella needed a character, an
identity, a strong look and a gimmick so for a while I
came up with the dizzy blonde Essex girl look but felt
that blonde wigs never really suited me and went for the
Liz Taylor/Joan Collins/Delta Berk look you see today.
SO
YOU'VE NOW HAD THE PLEASURE OF GETTING TO KNOW ME,WHY
NOT SEE ME IN PERSON.
